How to dress for a wedding this summer?

by MOLKA KALLEL 05 Apr 2024

With wedding season in full swing, many are wondering how to dress to celebrate the big day of a loved one, whether it's a sister, friend or sister-in-law.

Although weddings are often an opportunity to adorn oneself in one's finest attire, it is not uncommon to worry about the ideal outfit, oscillating between the fear of being overdressed or underdressed.

First of all, it is essential to check two points:

  • Are there any colors to avoid? It is generally not recommended to wear white, since it is the color of the bride. In addition, some brides and grooms may prohibit certain colors, whether out of superstition or simply because they are reserved for witnesses. Don't hesitate to ask the bride and groom if there are any color restrictions.

  • Is there a specific dress code? Some brides and grooms specify the dress code on their invitation. If not, you can try to guess based on the style of the bride and groom, the location and the theme of the wedding. If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask them directly.

Here is a selection of the most common dress codes:

  • Evening wear (Black-tie) or Formal: This code indicates a formal evening event. Ladies, choose a long dress in luxurious fabrics like silk or organza. For less formal weddings, a sophisticated cocktail dress is also appropriate. Stylish pantsuits are also an option.

  • Cocktail: This choice is extremely popular and represents a balance between elegance and comfort. Opt for a tea-length, knee-length or midi dress, instead of a long dress.

  • Semi-formal or casual chic: Below-the-knee dresses, slip dresses, skirts with an elegant top or stylish pantsuits with heels are in order.

  • Festive: Let your creativity run wild with colorful outfits, original accessories and unique silhouettes.

  • Casual: If the wedding is taking place outdoors or on the beach, opt for a summer dress or floral minidress, accompanied by sandals or wedges.

By following these tips, you will definitely be well-dressed and perfectly suited to the occasion, regardless of the dress code specified by the bride and groom.
